Amazon Wait For Me Film Reviews
A very powerful film directed by Keith Farrell! I was not prepared for this film to be as tense as it was. At points there were scenes uncomfortable to see and the film kept my feeling tense – however this is what you want from a thriller! A very compelling plot which keeps you hooked throughout.
Beautiful movie. Really well-written and directed by the creative filmmaking team. Keith Farrell’s direction really pulls you into the story. I found his film very haunting, emotional and moving as an overall journey. And the story arc of the two main characters stayed with me long after the film had ended which is pretty much how I judge my films these days.
I heard about ‘Wait For Me’ from a friend who saw it at the ‘Manchester International Film Festival’ where it was the standout winner in 2023. It didn’t disappoint. It is a gritty British drama, set in the north of England. It has multiple plot twists, a great cast and contains a thought provoking storyline.
Decided to give this a watch over the weekend as it is now available online and it had me gripped the whole way through. It has been well written and directed by Keith Farrell, who has brought the storyline to life, not to mention some great actors who have perfectly portrayed the characters and the storyline.
IMDB Wait For Me Film Reviews
Wait For Me is a throwback to the maverick days of Indie film making. Director Keith Farrell brings us a story thoroughly uncompromising and powerful in its dark delivery. A brilliant performance from Karen Hassan, truly outstanding as it is, never overshadows the sterling input from Elva Trill and old nugget Sean McGinley with subtle gems to be found in Kelli Hollis as the.beleaguered.brothel madam and in Theo Ogundipe as the the viciously understated henchman Barry.
This was a really powerful film, more so than I was expecting it to be. Uncomfortable to watch at times and remains edgy. The story is strong and the revelations held my attention throughout. A couple of scenes were uncomfortable to watch due to their raw honesty. Sean McGinley and Karen Hassan were stand out for me as the father and daughter with the most complex relationship. She is very convincing as the woman with nothing left to lose and the finale kept me tense throughout.
If you like plot twists, gritty British thrillers and a hard hitting storyline you’ll love ‘Wait For Me’. Set in Northern England, the movie tells the story of an unlikely heroine trapped in unfortunate circumstances through no fault of her own. The plot takes her through a series of remarkable events involving some great characters played by a varied cast.
I wasn’t prepared for this movie to be as powerful as it was. At points there were scenes uncomfortable to see and the film kept my feeling tense – however this is what you want from a thriller! The plot is compelling and kept me hooked throughout. Because of their unvarnished honesty, a few instances were unpleasant to see. For me, the father-daughter duo of Sean McGinley and Karen Hassan stood out as having an extremely complicated relationship.

It has been well written and directed by Keith Farrell, who has brought the storyline to life, not to mention some great actors who have perfectly portrayed the characters and the storyline. It’s great to see films like this come to life and flourish in the film industry.
Beautiful movie. Really well-written and directed by the creative film making team. Keith Farrell’s direction really pulls you into the story. I found his film very haunting, emotional and moving as an overall journey. And the story arch of the two main characters stayed with me long after the film had ended which is pretty much how I judge my films these days. I thought the soundtrack was really good too, pulled at all the right heartstrings in all the right places.
A definite continuation of the style and tone seen in Warp films like Dead Man’s Shoes and Tyrannosaur, Keith Farrell has delivered a brilliant, yet uncompromising study of morality and obligation through the eyes of Karen Hassan’s Alison, and Aaron Cobham’s Sam. The performances throughout are standout, with Karen Hassan, Aaron Cobham, and Sean McGinley in particular delivering performances that left me shell-shocked. It’s not an easy, light-hearted affair to put it mildly; but any other choice of tone would undermine the message Farrell is trying to deliver.

UK Film Review Wait For Me Film Review
Director Farrell does a great job and creates some terrific aerial shots and a few well-executed long takes. Composer Phil France deserves commendations for the dramatic music that includes beautiful piano melodies and praise also goes to director of photography Mike Staniforth. This is a crime drama with an intriguing story, interesting characters and strong acting, particularly by Hassan. It is an emotional and harsh story about escape, about moving on to better things and it is an experience that is worth seeking out.

A very dark drama, sombre throughout, Wait For Me boasts committed performances that power through the bleakness. Karen Hassan stars as Alicia, a woman who becomes embroiled in a life of crime after moving to England from Ireland. Small-time sneery criminal Max (Neil Bell) has her under control, doling out psychological punishment and forcing her and a band of other coerced women into a life of prostitution and petty crime.

This movie gets to create a bleak world that finds a moment of hope. Karen Hassan and Aaron Cobham are both wonderful in the leading two roles. While Theo Ogundipe is terrifying in his. The raw emotions coming out of this movie to tell the story on a powerful level that people would want to reach out to help the characters too. Wait for Me is a powerful and emotional experience
